Why Faith is Important in Early Childhood Education

Introducing faith to young children is not a new concept, but one that has been developing and evolving over the years. In this article by Dr. Jennifer Sturgeon, she points out the impacts of a faith-based education on young children and ways to truly equip young children for a lifetime of walking with God.

The influence that a teacher has when they are able to freely express and demonstrate their faith in the classroom can have an impact on generations to come. It is one thing to read Bible stories and tell children that they need to remember those stories because they have to, but it is another thing to apply those lessons to our everyday lives and truly live them out daily.

In my own experience in faith-based early childhood education, it has been so special to teach children about the Lord and see them grasp those concepts and apply them at their age. Being able to teach prayer, academics, social-emotional skills, kindness, and gratitude all in a safe classroom environment just like Dr. Sturgeon writes about, we can truly change the world.
