There are many times that I have heard children compared to sponges. They are constantly learning, soaking up what they hear, see, and experience around them. As adults, especially teachers, it is up to us to decide if what they are learning from us will prepare them for a life of courage and victory, or a life of fear and discouragement.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it"  (Proverbs 22:6)

Over 2,500 years ago, the writer of this verse understood the importance of what we are teaching children. From the earliest stages, children are forming how they see the world. Research shows that children form their worldviews by the time they are ten! This is why early education is even more important in reaching their hearts for Christ. Those views and experiences will impact them for the rest of their lives.

When a child lies down at night, are they secure in the fact that there is a God who loves them and is watching over them, or are they full of fear and uncertainty?
Do they believe in goodness and mercy, or punishment and revenge?
Are they learning what it means to give and receive grace freely, or are they being shown how to hold grudges and live in anger?

Every child in the world will learn something today that will form and shape them in some way for the rest of their life.

By providing a Christ-centered nurturing environment through the curriculum and activities that we create, our team in Budapest will have the opportunity to speak on this topic. My ultimate desire as an educator is to see that what my students are learning will bring them closer to Jesus and closer to a life on mission for Him.

It matters what we are teaching children. They are our future.
